That's what I thought to myself as the light turned green, and I carefully entered an intersection this morning. My caution was worth it--a car ran the red light, and I very easily could have been hit.
I'm not much of a honker, so it took me a minute to figure out where to push to beep my horn in disgust. I figured that a honk, even if it's delayed by a few seconds, would get the point across. Beep, beep! Grrrr. I proceeded on my way to IHOP, where a handful of my students along with a herd of students from another district high school were meeting for a silent breakfast. (How the heck DOES that teacher get so many kids to come out for activities like this?)
As I was driving along, I noticed that I was right behind the car that cut me off a few minutes ago. Stupid jerk! Hey, will you look at that--he's pulling into IHOP...I wonder if he thinks I'm following him...
I was curious now. I pulled in and waited for a minute until the driver got out and walked in. Turns out, he was one of my students--a kid I know and love. I still think he was driving like an idiot this morning, but I'm glad all I did was honk. I don't know if he realized I was the car he almost hit or not. I think I'll keep that little piece of information to myself.
